Luticia Henderson was born a twin into a large Christian family of 15 siblings, a childhood that taught her the importance of finding herself amid the joyful chaos of family life. She later married the love of her life, Lawrence Boyd Sr., and together they raised 12 children. With so many mouths to feed, Luticia’s true gift began to shine—her knack for hospitality and her love of cooking made everyone who entered her home feel welcomed and cherished.

History of Big Momma

Luticia Henderson-Boyd, lovingly known as *Big Momma*, perfected the original cinnamon roll and dinner roll recipe that so many have come to love. In the 1990s, she passed her treasured recipe to me — *Jill Arnold, her daughter-in-love*. For years, I baked those rolls at home for friends and family, keeping the recipe a cherished secret.

In 2004, my husband and I, along with my sisters and their spouses, opened **Big Momma’s Homemade Rolls LLC** in Raytown, MO. After my cancer diagnosis in 2008, the business continued under my family at new locations, including Crown Center and later Bannister Road. Over time, the recipe and name were shared outside the family, creating some understandable confusion.

To clarify — Original Big Momma’s Soul Food is our family-owned food truck, operated by me, my husband, and our children. We are not affiliated with Big Momma’s KC on Bannister Road.

Today, we’re proud to carry on Big Momma’s legacy — bringing her famous cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and soulful comfort food straight to your neighborhood from our truck.
